A legacy that lives on

Your family, together. Your stories, forever.

Bring your family tree, photographs, memories, important dates and the stories of generations together in one private place.

Private to your family. Nothing is public unless you choose.

One tree, many branches — and the roots that come down to hold it up.

Why Parivarwale

More than a family tree. A home for your family’s story.

Families grow across generations. Memories get scattered across phones. Stories disappear when the people who remember them are gone. Parivarwale brings the people, relationships and moments that make your family unique into one place.

01

Discover your family tree

Build a living family tree, add the relatives you know, and see exactly how everyone is related. Invite family members and grow your shared family history together.

02

Bring relatives together

Invite relatives, and send a connection request to join your branch of the family to theirs. Nothing is joined until they check your Parivarwale ID and say yes — and connecting shares only what each family has chosen to show its family circle. Anything marked private stays private.

03

Keep memories alive

Preserve photographs, videos, voice recordings, documents and the stories behind them. Say who is in a photograph and it appears on each of their pages — so every moment stays with the people who were part of it.

  1. Remember the moments that matter

Keep birthdays, wedding anniversaries, important family events and days of remembrance in one place. They’re shown on Home when they come round, and the whole family can sign one card.

  2. Give every generation a place

Make a page for a relative who lives far away, for someone who has no phone, and for family members who are no longer with us — their story, their photographs, and what others remember of them.

  3. Private by design

Your family history belongs to your family. Choose who can see each thing you add, and join family branches only when both sides agree.

  4. Understand your roots

See exactly how anyone is related to you, step by step, and bring together the stories and photographs that explain where your family comes from.

Getting started

Simple enough for every generation.

  1. Start your family tree

Add yourself, and begin with the relatives you know.

  2. Add the people who matter

Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters — and anyone else, whenever you like.

  3. Invite your family

Send an invitation so relatives can take over their own page — or connect their branch of the family to yours.

  4. Build your family legacy

Add photographs, memories, stories and important dates, together.

Privacy

Your family story. Your choice of who sees it.

Everything you add — a memory, a photograph, a page — has its own “Who can see this?” choice. The usual one is your family.

Paying never gives anybody access to another family’s private information. Access follows these choices and nothing else.

A note from the founder

Built with a simple belief: every family’s story deserves to live on.

I built Parivarwale so that every family in India can keep its people, its stories and its photographs in one safe place — and hand them on to the children who come after.

It is made to be simple enough for grandparents to use, and private by default, because a family's memories belong to the family.

Getting started

Creating your account
  1. Open Parivarwale and press Begin your family. Type your name and, if you like, the year you were born.
  2. Choose who to start with — your parents, your grandparents, or your brothers and sisters.
  3. Type your mobile number, your email and a strong password. We send one 6-digit code by SMS and one by email, just this once, to check they’re yours. After that you sign in with your number (or email) and password — no codes. (Can’t see the email? Look in Spam, and in Gmail’s Promotions tab.)
  4. Tap a + place — “+ Father”, “+ Mother” — and type their full name. Watch the tree grow.

Codes by SMS work for Indian mobile numbers. Anywhere else, choose Use my email instead on the same screen.

Use full names, as written on documents like the Aadhaar card — not nicknames. If two relatives each type Dada-ji differently, he appears twice.

Finding your way around

At the bottom of the screen there are five buttons:

  • Home — what is new in your family, birthdays, and things waiting for you.
  • Family — your family tree.
  • Memories — stories, photographs, voice recordings and the family timeline.
  • Messages — private messages with relatives.
  • You — your page, your Parivarwale ID and your settings.

At the top are small buttons to search, to ask a question about your family, and to see notifications.

Your family

How do I add a family member?
  1. Open Family and press the round + button (“Add someone to your family”). You can also open anybody’s page, go to their Family tab and press Add a relative.
  2. Choose who they are — Mother, Father, Brothers, Sisters, Grandmother, Uncles, Cousins and so on.
  3. Say how many (for example, 2 brothers) and type each full name.
  4. If you know it, add when they were born, or tick “They have passed away”. Then press Add to the family.

Don’t know a name? Choose “I don’t know their name” — the place is kept so someone else can fill it in.

If the person may already be in the family, Parivarwale asks “You may already have this person”. Press That’s them to connect the same person instead of adding them twice.

Using the family tree
  • Drag to move around, pinch (or use the buttons) to zoom.
  • Line up — Left, Centre or Right — changes how each generation is arranged. Centre is the usual.
  • Centre on me brings you back to yourself.
  • Tap any person to see how you’re related, step by step, and to open their page.
  • Under the tree you can switch to Generations, a simple List, or Lifespans.
  • The family switcher at the top shows your father’s side, your mother’s side, or all connected family.
A person’s page

Tap anyone’s name to open their page. It has tabs:

  • Their story — what they wrote about their own life.
  • Memories of them — what relatives remember, each with the writer’s name.
  • Timeline — their life in order: born, school, marriage, work…
  • Photos, Family and Details (who added each fact, and from where).

Press Edit to correct their details, the camera button to add their photograph, and See on the tree to find them in the tree. You can also add their Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other links, and choose who can see each one.

Relatives who have passed away

Their page stays as a Remembered page — with their story, memories, photos and voice. Close family can record that someone has passed away, and choose how they are remembered: a garland and lamp, a candle, flowers, or just the word. Remembered pages can be added to, but are protected from being removed.

Memories and dates

Writing a memory
  1. Open the person’s page and press Write a memory. (On your own page it says Add to your story.)
  2. Write what you remember — a few words or many pages. If you’re stuck, the ideas under “Not sure where to start?” help.
  3. Choose Who can see this? and press Keep this memory.

Your name stays on what you write, and only you can edit it. If you remove a memory, it can be put back.

Adding photos, videos, voice recordings and documents
  1. Open Memories, press Add, then Add photos or a video (or a voice recording).
  2. Choose the file, write what it is, when and where it was taken, and press Add it.
  3. On the photo’s page, say who is in it — then it appears on each of their pages too.

Put photos together in Albums — “Didi’s wedding”, “The village house”. Each file can be up to 50 MB, and each person can keep up to 2 GB.

Life events, anniversaries and remembrance days

On a person’s Timeline tab press Add a life event — a wedding, a new job, moving house. Use Add a date for a wedding anniversary or a day of remembrance. Birthdays come from the date of birth, so there’s no need to add them.

This week’s question, birthdays and cards
  • This week’s question — a new one every Monday, like “What is the earliest thing you can remember?”. Write or say your answer; it becomes a memory.
  • Birthdays and on this day — who has a birthday or anniversary coming up.
  • Cards — press Add your wishes on a birthday and the whole family can sign one card, with a photo or a voice note. On a remembrance day, press Light a card.

Connecting your family

Inviting your family
  1. Open You → Invite your family.
  2. Press Invite next to someone already in your tree, or Make a general invitation link.
  3. Press Send on WhatsApp (or Copy the link). Send it to that person directly, not to a group.

When they open it, they press Yes — I’m … and their page becomes theirs. A link works once and stops after 30 days.

Your Parivarwale ID, and joining two families

Everyone gets a Parivarwale ID like PW-7X29A4, shown on the You page. It is safe to share — on its own it only lets someone ask to connect.

  1. Open You → Connecting families.
  2. Type your relative’s ID, press Find them, say how you’re related, and press Send the request.
  3. They check your ID and press Yes, we’re related. Now both branches see each other.

Connecting never shares anything marked private, and never joins two people into one without asking.

“Someone made a page for me” — claiming your profile

If a relative already added you, open your page and press This is me. The person who added you (or your family) is asked to confirm. Once confirmed, only you can change your own details — but memories others wrote about you stay theirs.

The same person added twice, or the family remembers differently

If two pages might be the same person, Parivarwale asks under You → Possible duplicate records. Nothing is joined automatically — a person decides, and a join can be undone.

If two relatives give different dates (1958 or 1959?), both are kept and shown with who said each. Nothing is overwritten.

Messages and family groups

Open Messages and tap a relative to write to them, or press Start a group, choose who is in it and give it a name. You can send photos, videos, voice messages, a person from the tree, or a memory. Only the people in a conversation can read it. You can message relatives who are on Parivarwale.

Privacy and your account

Who can see what (privacy)

Everything you add has a “Who can see this?” choice:

  • Only me — nobody else, not even your family.
  • My family — everyone in your family circle. This is the usual.
  • A few people — only the people you pick.
  • Anyone — anyone with the link.

Photos are never at a public web address. Paying never gives anybody access to a family. Read more in what we do with your information.

Keeping a copy: your family book

Open You → Take a copy with you. Your family book (prints) makes a printable book of your family; Everything as data downloads all of it. It’s yours — you never need an account to open it.

Your account: password, signing out, closing it

You sign in with your mobile number or email, and your password. If you sign in on a phone or computer you haven’t used before, we email you “Is this you?” — press Yes, it’s me and you’re in; press No and they stay out. Forgot your password? Press Forgotten your password? — we send a code by SMS (or a link by email). On the You page: Change your password, Sign out on all my devices (if you lose a phone), and Close your account. More in closing your account.
